Jon Stewart rips regressives a new one on the 47%

In this clip Stewart sets the record straight about this 47% of slackers Romney despises. He observes that this includes the elderly, veterans, the working poor and much of the middle class. This triggered panic at Romney campaign headquarter, aka Faux Snooze. Or as Stewart calls it, "chaos on bullshit mountain." Their first complaint was it was put out by a left-wing magazine, Mother Jones. Then they tried to spin it that his words don't matter, for what he meant was that opportunity show be open for everyone. Wow, that's some leap. "It's like Romney jazz; it's the words you don't hear." Their next specious excuse is that it is the truth. Stewart sums up the argument so far: "This inartfully stated, dirty little liberal smear is a truthful expression of Mitt Romney's political philosophy and it is a winner."

In this clip Stewart completely dismantles the bullshit about the moochers. The core of it is based on the 2011 census report reveals that 49% of people live in a household where at least one person received a government handout. Not only that, according to Hannity Obama is personally responsible for this. What the regressives aren't telling you is that number includes those on social security and Medicare, or what Stewart calls, Hannity's audience. And the regressives are leaving out many more on the government dole not included in that 49%, like Exxon-Mobil, AT&T and GE. From 2008 to 2010 250 corporations received nearly a quarter trillion dollars in tax subsidies. Yes, trillion. "Although to be fair at least Exxon and AT&T give us back cheap gas and reliable cell phone service."

He gives several other example, like farm subsidies, Wall Street firms given discount borrowing at the Federal Reserve, the cheap capital gains tax. Of the latter he notes Romney only paid 14% income tax, much lower than the working class. Basically he got a $4.5 million subsidy if he would be taxed at the regular income rates. Regressive cognitive dissonance sees their welfare as something deserved and earned, whereas for everyone else it is a handout for the lazy moocher.
